My name is Dominique Binns, I’m a UKBFF Junior Bikini Athlete. I work full-time, study a degree part-time and model.
I am honoured to be given the opportunity to be a part of Team USN and represent such an amazing, globally renowned brand.
I have learned that fitness is a lifestyle choice, not a temporary fix and although it can be challenging, it is rewarding above all else! I personally feel that training is the one part of my day/week that I can escape from reality and focus on improving myself, for myself. I enjoy the physical and mental challenge of training and dieting, contrasting this with socialising with my partner, friends and family to maintain a healthy overall balance in my life. When I receive messages every day from other young women who struggle with the same problems I’ve had, it motivates me to keep going, stay focused, positive and keep on inspiring others!
As a teenager I always battled with body image issues and developed some unhealthy eating habits over the years. I’ve tried and tested countless fad diets, never being happy with the end result. Eventually, I began going to the gym regularly, but admittedly – I didn’t have a clue what I was doing.
Through mutual friends and interests, I met my partner, who convinced me to start training with him at a bodybuilding style gym in 2013 and this was the start of my fitness journey. I began training properly with his guidance, but took a long time to alter my eating habits. After I began following a proper diet plan, the results came quicker than ever and I was hooked!
From a young age, I always danced competitively, so when I went to support my partner in his first UKBFF competition it was unsurprising that I had an urge to get up on stage as I sat in awe with my friends and they told me I was capable of achieving the same. I had to compete amongst those amazing physiques! With the encouragement of friends and family, I began my competitive journey in 2015, placing top 3 in every show so far.
